Mia Marie first connected with local Wellington youth hubs in 2023, shortly after moving from Ahuriri to Pōneke alone at sixteen. A year later, she then began her mahi involved in the youth sector, working passionately to create opportunities for rangatahi. Joining the BGI whanau in 2026, Mia Marie is a part of the Anamata Motuhake team, where she shares her matauranga in entrepreneurship through a creative lens.
Outside of her role at BGI, Mia Marie is involved in many kaupapa, including Zeal Wellington’s ‘Youth Decision Makers’ rōpū, which funds taiohi-led & taiohi-focused projects. She also founded ‘COMB’, which aims to destigmatise barriers for rangatahi such as Tall Poppy syndrome and Impostor syndrome in Aotearoa.
She believes her upbringing and own experiences of hardship have fueled her passion for creating connection through the experiences that shape us.
